ARTIST IN RESIDENCE IN BEIJING

I have arrived in the big capital of China, Beijing, and moved into the Institute for Provocation (IFP).

IFP is based in the central area of the Dongcheng district in an old hutong courtyard. It is a great privilege to be a part of such an adventure. Once again, thank you Mondriaan Fund and IFP.

On IFP's website is now mentioned:

"Markus constructs still lives and arrangements that predominantly end up as photographic series and as site-specific spatial pieces. Charlott frequently works with Still Life photography where she weaves personal narratives and their links to objects and materials, often using textiles as a complex carrier of meanings, memories and sensibilities. During her time in Beijing, Charlott will turn back to the memories of her childhood, watching Chinese films from directors such as Zhang Yimou in which fabric was used as a silent agent what could not be said or done in real. The residency of Charlott Markus is generously funded and supported by Mondriaan Funds."
