The Untitled
During my stay in New York (summer 2009) I managed, thanks to Homebase project, to use the second floor of an abandoned medical clinic as my studio for a short period of time. The place had been empty for four years. On the first floor Homebase project, and their invited artists, were busy with site specific projects at the time whereas I could hide upstairs working in peace and quiet.
I again wanted to create different layers, using found objects in an already existing and equally left behind environment. A decaying space where a lost garment, found in the streets of New York, got another meaning and when re-arranged creates a painterly scene where it is hard to judge if it is an object or just a flat surface/space.
